Autism Team

Who is on your 1to1 Autism Therapy Team?

1to1 Autism Therapy believes in a team approach to care for children with autism. Your child with autism deserves the best quality care from a team of qualified autism therapists. 1to1 Autism Therapy provides Ontario Autism Program (OAP) approved therapies supervised by a Clinical Supervisor, Board Certified Behaviour Analyst or Psychologist.

The Clinical Supervisor is a registered Psychologist and a member of the College of Psychologists of Ontario; or a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst. The clinical supervisor provides clinical guidance and mentorship to the Supervising Therapists and oversees 1to1 Autism Therapy’s clinical practice. For privately funded clients, a Psychologist or clinical supervisor is not required. However, a Psychologist or Board Certified Behaviour Analyst is available to provide clinical oversight to your child’s intervention program. Children receiving funding from the Ontario Autism Program require supervision from a clinical supervisor.

Supervising Therapists (ST) are Board Certified Behaviour Analysts (BCBA), Board Certified Assistant Behaviour Analysts (BCaBA), highly trained Behavioural Consultants under the supervision of a BCBA or Speech-Language Pathologists. Supervising Therapists are responsible for overseeing the child’s treatment program. Supervising Therapists provide parent training, monitor progress of the child, supervise and train the Instructor Therapists, and act as a clinical liaison, at the request of the parents, with community agencies/schools. Supervising Therapists have specialized training in Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) and Early Start Denver Model (ESDM).

Instructor Therapists (IT) are skilled behaviour technicians with an Autism and Behavioural Sciences Diploma and/or a degree/diploma in Communication Sciences and Disorders. Instructor Therapists are trained to become Registered Behaviour Technicians (RBTs) and trained in Early Start Denver Model (ESDM) at 1to1 Autism Therapy. Instructor Therapists are responsible for providing direct therapy, implementing programs, recording data and attending team meetings.

Speech-Language Pathologists (SLP)  have a master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology and are registered with the College of Audiologists and Speech Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO). Speech therapy is an important part of the program, and our Speech-Language therapists collaborate with the ABA/ESDM team to provide assessment and intervention of communication, expressive language, receptive language, reading, writing, augmentative communication, social skills and speech. Some of our Speech-Language Pathologists certification and experience includes specialized training in The Hanen – “More Than Words” program, PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System), PROMPT (PROMPTS for Restructuring Oral Muscular Phonetic Targets) and ESDM (Early Start Denver Model).

Occupational Therapists (OT) have a master’s degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy and are registered with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO). Occupational Therapists collaborate with the ABA/ESDM team to provide assessment and intervention for fine motor skills, gross motor skills, visual motor integration, sensory processing, self-regulation, social skills and feeding. Some of our Occupational Therapists certification and experience include specialized training in Neuro-Developmental Treatment (NDT), The Zones of Regulation® for Self-Regulation, Handwriting Without Tears®, and Sequential Oral Sensory (SOS) Approach to Feeding.
